The Challenge

The company was at a critical inflection point, seeking to sharpen its growth trajectory through deeper insight into market dynamics and internal effectiveness. They needed an experienced leader to act as Interim Chief of Staff—someone capable of building a strategic plan from the ground up, driving organizational alignment, and improving go-to-market capabilities.

Core mandates included:

  • Building and refining the company’s strategic plan
  • Conducting internal analysis and executive interviews
  • Assessing distributor performance and recommending improvements
  • Evaluating sales force effectiveness

This was a role requiring both strategic acumen and operational rigor—someone who could quickly engage senior leaders, surface organizational insights, and drive alignment across initiatives.

Our Approach

We prioritized candidates with 4+ years of experience at top-tier consulting firms (McKinsey, Bain, BCG, L.E.K.) and a strong track record in corporate strategy, market assessments, and transformation efforts. Given the company’s operational complexity and market expansion goals, ideal candidates also brought exposure to construction, real estate, or adjacent sectors.

We looked for:

  • Strong analytical problem-solvers with international consulting experience
  • Strategic PMO and transformation leadership backgrounds
  • Ability to build cross-functional alignment and executive engagement
  • Clear communication skills, comfort with ambiguity, and a ‘builder’ mindset

The Placement

We placed a seasoned strategy advisor and management consultant with significant international experience spanning North America, EMEA, Latin America, and Asia. With a career spanning financial services, real estate, and technology, he brought a deep bench of cross-industry insight and transformation experience.

His background included:

  • Strategy, business development, and transformation leadership across industries
  • Post-merger integration and strategic process innovation experience
  • Client relationship management and executive-level communications
  • Business process re-engineering and operations oversight

He quickly became a key partner to senior leadership, conducting a company-wide diagnostic, coordinating management interviews, and architecting a roadmap for sales and distribution performance improvement.

The Outcome

The interim Chief of Staff delivered impact across multiple critical dimensions:

  • Designed and delivered a comprehensive strategic plan tied to business outcomes
  • Facilitated cross-functional interviews and analysis to align executive priorities
  • Developed distributor effectiveness assessments to inform channel optimization
  • Initiated performance reviews and strategic recommendations for the sales organization

His leadership not only helped sharpen the company’s strategic focus, but also empowered teams to move forward with greater clarity and confidence—laying the foundation for scalable growth and operational excellence.
